Projects

Here's just a small sampling of the local community projects we facilitate and support.

Red Rock Trails

The Red Rock Trails are a soft surface trails system in north Gillette. The 540 acres of land know as the Centennial section is the ideal location for this kind of trail system. The unique features of scoria hills and sandstone drainage create the perfect environment for mountain bike and trail running. The Red Rock Trails developed from a grassroots effort from local citizens wanting a location close to town to run and ride. The trails have been a local hot spot for runners, walkers, mountain bikers and nature lovers. With your help we can protect the access to this unique landscape and further develop the trails system.

Festival of Lights

The Festival of Lights is a seasonal holiday light display hosted at Camplex Park in East Gillette. It is a community favorite and always brings joy to community during the Christmas season. Now in its 11th year this Campbell County Parks & Recreation project grown into a regional attraction drawing people from all over North Eastern Wyoming. With your help we can continue to expand and maintain this wonderful holiday display.

Adaptive Sports and Recreation

This project is the brain child of our very own board member Joseph Zabel. Joe was paralyzed in a rock climbing accident and through his perseverance and positive attitude has endeavored to increase adaptive sports and recreational activities in the community. One of the goals of this project is to create areas of reverse inclusion allowing able bodied individuals to participate in activities with physically disabled individuals. Sports like basketball, cycling and pickleball are some adaptive activities that create these opportunities. Partnering with the Campbell County Parks and Recreation several sports wheelchairs have been purchased to facilitate this project. Wheelchair basketball will be the first sport to take the court. With your help we can take this project to the next level and bring more sports to the community.
